The Department of Chemical Engineering at Sebelas Maret University strives to be at the forefront of the synthesis of natural materials, the search for bio-based sustainable energy, and the development of advanced materials.
The curriculum was changed from 2014 to 2019 due in part to UNS Rector Regulation No. 582/UN27/HK/2016 concerning the Management and Implementation of Bachelor’s Degree Education Programs. This regulation stipulates that the implementation of a course must be in accordance with its credit hours. In the 2014 curriculum, the courses “Engineering Ethics,” “Oral Defense,” and “Comprehensive Exam” had 0-1 credit hours, so their implementation was not in line with the regulation as they were only held in a single session. In the 2019 curriculum, these three courses were merged into the “Chemical Engineering Pre-Design Final Project” (TA-PPK). The TA-PPK course requires that the Oral Defense Exam can only be taken after students have attended the “Engineering Ethics” course and passed the Comprehensive Exam (with a minimum score of 60).
The Comprehensive Exam is a mandatory requirement for undergraduate Chemical Engineering students as part of the TA-PPK course. It covers the entire Chemical Engineering curriculum, including fundamental knowledge, unit operations, and plant design. The exam consists of questions from 5 subject groups: Unit Operations, Processes, Mathematics, Thermodynamics, and Reaction Engineering and Research Support. The exam is conducted simultaneously on a computer-based platform at the Chemical Engineering Computer Laboratory, is time-limited, and must be completed with integrity. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the exam can only be taken online from each student’s respective location.
In regards to the online and simultaneous Comprehensive Exam, the PSTK has set several regulations:
1. The Comprehensive Exam will be held online at a specific, simultaneous time.
2. Students who wish to take the exam must register with the Study Program Administrator.
3. Students are required to take the exam at the predetermined time.
4. Students must follow the guidelines and rules of the comprehensive exam.
5. The results will be announced within one week.

The online and simultaneous Comprehensive Exam for the 2020/2021 Academic Year will be held on:

2. Exam Execution : 150 minutes

Before participating in the Comprehensive Exam, all students are expected to study and understand all exam guidelines and regulations, pay attention to the exam schedule, and complete it well to achieve the passing standard.
