A History of the Chemical Engineering Program at UNSa
Initiation and Planning of Chemical Engineering // 1986
The establishment of the Chemical Engineering Department at UNS is inseparable from the initiative of six senior lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering, namely: Ir. Samun Triyoko, the late Ir. Muljadi, the late Ir. Nunik Sriwahjuni, Ir. Endang Mastuti, Ir.
Rusdiansjah, M.Si., and Ir. Paryanto, M.S.
Established // 1997
The program’s origins trace back to the launch of the PPKT (Program Keahlian Teknik), a two-year diploma program, with the hiring of two new lecturers: Dr. Ir. Margono, S.T., M.T., and Ir. Arif Jumari, M.Sc.
in the same year, a proposal was submitted to establish both a Bachelor’s Degree (S1) program and a Three-Year Diploma (D3) program.

The Bachelor’s Program in Chemical Engineering at Sebelas Maret University
(UNS) was established on February 23, 1998, exactly one year after its proposal.
Founded by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education (SK No.
53/DIKTl/Kep/1998), the program is expected to have graduated 1,178 students by August 2025.

The Diploma (D3) Program was established through a collaborative program with Diponegoro University.

The Chemical Engineering
Undergraduate Program at UNS operates under the Faculty of Engineering, which first received an “A” accreditation in 2015 and was later awarded an “Unggul” (Excellent) accreditation in 2020.
