The Department of Chemical Engineering at Sebelas Maret University strives to be at the forefront of the synthesis of natural materials, the search for bio-based sustainable energy, and the development of advanced materials.
Vision of the Chemical Engineering Study Program at UNS is formulated based on the vision of the University (Institution) and Faculty, the results of self-evaluation, and predictions of future developments that graduates of chemical engineering will face. Recent developments indicate that the Chemical Engineering Study Program must produce graduates who can compete at a global level, particularly at the regional level with the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). On the other hand, Indonesia’s vast biodiversity requires the application of chemical engineering knowledge to create added value. Efforts to generate this added value must be carried out sustainably to encourage the emergence of new products based on biological resources.

To provide undergraduate education in Chemical Engineering that emphasizes a strong mastery of chemical engineering fundamentals, fosters sensitivity to societal needs, cultivates an entrepreneurial spirit, and develops individuals with flexibility in personal growth, while creating a conducive academic environment to nurture character and strong national awareness.
To conduct research aimed at discovering innovations in bioresource-based chemical technology.
